Food photography is Malou’s passion. Short for ‘Marie-Louise’, she is an experienced food, drink and portrait photographer with over 20 years’ experience. Her sharp eye for detail and composition, plus her technical expertise in natural and studio controlled lighting, provide outstanding results. Loving a visual challenge, Malou shoots at her fully functioning food studio in West London or on location.
Creating vibrant and appetising visuals, Malou’s stills are used in advertising, marketing and online digital campaigns. Commissions include packaging and design work, editorial and cookbooks. She also directs films, cinemagraphs and stop frame animations.
Working with global and national food brands, Malou has built strong relationships with her clients over the years through her friendly, warm and approachable attitude. A true people person, she works closely with art directors and clients, committed to achieving the exact results they need.
Regularly collaborating with a talented team of food stylists, prop stylists and photographic assistants, Malou’s inherent understanding of lighting techniques transforms a bare studio into a sunny, homely kitchen, and a simple dish into a delectable meal. She creates authentic food images that are perfectly imperfect with hints of crumbs, drips and smears.
Through her advertising commissions, she’s been lucky enough to travel extensively working on campaigns for many well-known brands. Work includes billboard campaigns for Trade Board Organic, over 30 campaigns for McDonald’s, global packaging campaigns for Knorr, and most recently moving images for a Co-Op advertising campaign. Malou has just finished working on a cookbook for a royal family.
Tokyo, Cape Town and Melbourne are all places that Malou called home, working there too. She met her Australian husband in Tokyo, but these days home is in Berkshire where downtime includes country walks with him, their two children and their Cockapoo, Sooty.
